So, after an irritatingly slow week at work, which means I was pretty damn productive with fic writing, I've reached the unhappy conclusion that a fic I've been toying with just can't be done right, and if it can't then I might as well stop trying and see if I can relocate the concept to later in the show canon. I mean yes, season 1 is perfect for the scenario, but the characters aren't in the right place for it, and if the things I want to write happen, it'll screw with continuity for the rest of the show. In short, next time I want to write a season 1 fic (for a show with six seasons that's already finished), I should either not do it at all and finish the series, or write the damn things and not catch up on three or four more seasons of canon, it makes everything messy.

Funny how on Leverage the OT3 developed as characters grew to trust each other, and on Haven and White Collar an OT3 was most likely in like the first two seasons, when they all still trusted each other and hadn't screwed each other over much. just goes to show that crooks are better people than cops, sometimes.
